A GREAT AUTUMN GETAWAY
for friends and family: Set out on your own voyage of discovery on Columbus
Day Weekend for the 10th Annual Walking Weekend. Discover the rich cultural
heritage and natural beauty of the Quinebaug and Shetucket Rivers Valley
National Heritage Corridor. Saunter, stride or hike through the brilliant
autumn colors of northeastern Connecticut, through rolling meadows and
along the streets of historic villages. Choose from more than 70 mostly
free, guided tours led by knowledgeable volunteers, with something for
every age and fitness level. The Heritage Corridor encompasses a total
of 35 towns, 26 towns in Northeastern Connecticut and 9 towns in South
Central Massachusetts. If you decide to make a weekend of it, there
are dozens of B&Bs and country inns where you can warm yourself beside
a cozy fire and enjoy good old-fashioned Yankee hospitality.
