The Mission of the NCVD is to promote and support the growth of tourism in NE CT, while remaining sensitive to the preservation of our heritage, environment, and resources, which contribute to the Quiet CornerХs unique rural character. It is also our goal to create an awareness of the importance of tourism, including the economic significance, among the people living and working in our region. We also partner with other tourism entities in cooperative projects, including the QSHC (events such as Walking Weekend), and encourage local and regional governing agencies to plan for tourism in their local areas as well.

Our board of directors consist of 21 municipal members appointed by each town selectman from the 21 towns comprising the Quiet Corner, and an additional 21 representatives from the tourism industry such as accommodations, restaurants, shopping, museums, recreation, etc., appointed by the municipal members. In order to achieve the goals set forth in our mission statement, these board members are actively involved with our Marketing Committee, Finance Committee, Nominating Committee, and Government Relations Committee. We presently operate on an annual budget of $100,000, generated from a small portion of the State lodging tax revenues.
